The problems of arrogance and blatant sin are among the reasons that Paul called upon the Corinthians to examine themselves (2 Corinthians 13:5) to see if they are actually in the faith. Unrepentantly persisting in these kinds of behaviors would be solid evidence against true conversion. Unrepentant sin can have permeating power (Galatians 5:9) and we must seek the Lord for forgiveness.
Our Scripture reading was found in Deuteronomy 7:1-26.
