  1. A recognition of God as transcendent, morally pure, and sovereign as the foundation of all petition.
  2. A petition for the realization of the principal end of God’s providential plan: the Coming of the Kingdom.
  3. A petition for incidental acts of providence flowing from God’s benevolent sovereignty.
  4. A petition for interpersonal harmony as evidence that we are truly being fitted for the Kingdom.
  5. A petition that God would regulate our temptations so that we do not fall, but rather grow in Christ and prepare for the coming Kingdom.

Our Scripture reading was found in 1 Chronicles 26:1-32.
