Intro to the Bible, Part 1
Can you list five of the ten commandments? Do you know the names of the four gospels? Can you name three of the disciples of Jesus? Did you know the Bible did not originate in Europe, but rather from the Middle East?
Understanding the Bible is an essential part of a truly liberal education. For centuries, it has been one of the most influential books in all of civilization. Yet our contemporary culture is quite illiterate when it comes to the Bible.
Come to a free 1-hour class to shore up this area of your education. The class will offer the opportunity for easy-going interaction about the Bible, or any related questions that you may have. You don't have to know anything about the Bible in order to participate.
The class is taught by Pastor Matt Postiff, who holds an engineering Ph.D. from the University of Michigan, and two earned Master's degrees in the Bible, theology, and Biblical languages from Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary.
After this class, we should be able to speak accurately about the following topics:
- The structure of the Bible.
- The timeframe when the Bible was written.
- The authorship of the Bible.
- The story-line or "big picture" of the Bible.
Intro to the Bible, Part 2
Our first steps into understanding the Bible continues Sunday night July 2 at 6pm. We hope to see you there as we extend our understanding into these areas:
- How did the Bible come down to us today?
- How accurately was the Bible copied/translated?
- How can I know the Bible is true?
- How does the Bible compare to other religious books?
