Our church recently experienced the grief of a family member passing suddenly out of this life. Pastor Postiff took a few minutes to share some truths that keep us steady when someone passes away. He reminds us that we must hope in God when someone we love dies.

We then enjoyed a testimony of one of our deacons about a health challenge and job change in which he experienced a real grace of the Lord. That portion is not included in this podcast.

We finally returned to the regular expositional schedule with a message in 2 Corinthians 4:16-18.

Are you concerned with the decline of the physical man more than the incline of the spiritual, inner man? Do you allow yourself to be overwhelmed by the afflictions of life, not realizing the benefit they are working for you? Would an external observer think your focus is on heavenly/eternal things, or on temporal things? Christians sometimes lose sight of the inner and lasting realities of the Christian life. Lack of faith causes you to be stuck in the present, your perspective truncated, near-sighted, and focused on afflictions. But you can choose your perspective. You can change your worldview. In faith you can see beyond the momentary and temporal to the weighty and eternal. You can set your affections above (Col. 3:1-2). You can—and should—seek first the kingdom of God and lay up treasures in Heaven (Matt. 6:19-21, 33).
