From the Pulpit...

In these verses, Paul explains that he uses his apostolic authority for edification of the church. He is critical of those who are not so interested in building up the church, but instead building up themselves by stepping into another's ministry sphere and commending themselves. Paul is convinced that right evaluation of Christ’s ministers can only be done by God, not by the superficial criteria used by his adversaries, the false teachers, in Corinth.
