Proverbs Series: Teachable - Jansen Lorch
Our sin nature makes it hard for us to be teachable, but the book of Proverbs--and the rest of Scripture for that matter--rests on a willingness to be taught by it. To be teachable has to do more with the posture of the heart than one's intellect. Arrogance in the heart of a person makes him resistant to the counsel, instruction, or rebuke of others. But the book of Proverbs calls those wise who love instruction and cherish the correction of others. A person manifests himself to be unteachable by his harsh reaction, dismissive tone, and argumentative spirit. A teachable spirit brings great blessing and is evidence of spiritual maturity.
