We considered Job's first speech and his three dark wishes: that he had never been born, that he had been stillborn, or that he would die. In either of these cases, he would be at rest and relieved from his awful misery. We thought together about why this is not the full picture and why killing oneself is not a Christian solution to the problem of suffering, although it truly expresses the feelings of a man in physical agony.
