From the Pulpit...
The New Perspective on Paul - Jansen Lorch
Tonight we review several popular tenants of the new perspective on the Apostle Paul: 1) An agenda to provide a clearer understanding of first century Judaism. 2) Attempts to convince Paul's doctrine of justification not to represent a sinner being justified in God's sight, but rather reflecting Jewish exclusivity, meaning that they were trying to keep Gentiles separate from this community. 3) Demands a more restrictive definition of what the works of the law mean. 4) Perseverance of the saints, teaching that faithfulness to the law is a means of identifying oneself as a part of the covenant Jewish community.
