Christians are taught by example and connection to Christ that we should be sacrificial in our character. When I think of sacrifice, what comes to mind include a willingness to suffer, thinking of others first, giving, and living generously not just with finances but with time and abilities to be a blessing to other people.
Such people exercise good stewardship so that they can be sacrificial, that is, have something to sacrifice. Being sacrificial is the opposite greed, materialism, and idolatry. In fact, a sacrificial heart is an antidote to those vices.
